Achieving excellence in the non-surgical facelift: our signature Phi-lift

Posted on October 30, 2020

The effects of time can be unkind to the face. Where once the skin was plump, taught and glowing, gravity can take a hold, resulting in skin sagging, loss of volume and a change in the shape of the face- from a more feminine ‘heart-shape’ to a squarer looking appearance. Attractive facial characteristics are recognised with natural curves and arcs across the cheekbones, as well as a chiselled jawline. In women, a more youthful facial anatomy is wider at the level of the cheeks and then tapers down towards the chin. This is sometimes called the “Ogee” facial curve and is synonymous with younger patients. As the ageing process means a loss of skin elasticity and facial volume as well as skin sagging and dehydration. This leads to concerns such as jowls and a weak jawline. Volume in the upper cheeks can be arguably most to blame, as the cheekbones act as a scaffold support for the lower facial skin, once the skin begins to weaken and age, a squarer facial appearance can be experienced. So even if you are younger, if you have low cheek bones or lack of volume in this area, you may experience premature facial ageing.

At The Harley Street Face Clinic, we offer full face rejuvenation using high-grade, long-lasting hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers along with state-of-the-art facial sculpting technology. We call this our signature Phi-Lift as we enhance the Phi lines of the ‘Golden Ratio’ (from the Greek terminology for facial perfection), thus rejuvenating the facial contours. This technique was developed by Dr Julian De Silva, after more than a decade of expertise in surgical face-lifting procedures.

The Phi-Lift combines our understanding of bony facial anatomy, state-of-the-art innovation and natural artistry that our practitioners possess, as aesthetic medical specialists. Using FDA-approved, gold-standard hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, injected into specific areas of the face for support, volumising and re-structuring. We call this SFV (systematic framework volumisation).

The Phi-Lift then utilises Phi-LIFT technology. This technique structurally augments along the natural lines and curves along the facial formula for the Golden Ratio – enhancing or beautifying the face, in other words feminizing a woman’s face.

As Phi-Lift is a bespoke treatment, which compliments every individual’s unique Golden Ratio and facial contours, we do not use a set number of injections, nor a specific quantity of product. Rather we decide on the techniques, viscosity of product, number of injections and amount of product to use when assessing your individual facial anatomy, in a pre-treatment consultation. Your face is unique, therefore, your Phi-Lift treatment will be bespoke to you too.

Sculpting the facial contours by enhancing the cheekbones, jawline and the localised area around the eyes to favour a heart-shaped face will offer a more youthful appearance and supported lower facial region. The Phi-Lift PLUS also offers skin rejuvenation, improving fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and dark spots. It’s useful to know that this procedure will require around a week of downtime.

Prior to your Phi-Lift treatment, a specially-formulated local anaesthetic cream will be used to reduce any discomfort. Once this has taken effect, a small anaesthetic injection is applied to the already numbed area. Then the dermal filler will be injected in to the specific areas of the face requiring treatment. At The Harley Street Face Clinic we use a ‘fast healing’ technique, utilising a cannula as opposed to a traditional needle. This results in far less swelling and bruising. We may decide to inject other facial areas with the dermal filler at the same time, to balance the facial features for natural-looking results.

You can expect to see relatively ‘instant’ results immediately after your Phi-Lift treatment. However, there may be some minor swelling and slight bruising and therefore, allowing a period of 5 days to see the optimum results is advisable. Results vary from patient to patient but can last anything between 18 and 24 months as the injections of dermal fillers are administered to the deeper layers of the skin. If you take care of your skin and general health, avoid smoking, excessive sun-exposure and too much alcohol, you will enjoy superb results for longer.

A full face lift doesn’t always have to mean undergoing an invasive surgical procedure. When surgery is not yet required, Phi-Lift could be the answer to a more youthful-looking you without a hospital visit or lengthy downtime. We provide only facial treatments and are located in the World famous 23 Harley Street medical district in central London.
