Am I suitable for a treatment with Profhilo® at The Harley Street Face Clinic?

If you are experiencing both mild and more advanced skin ageing, the likelihood will be that you could benefit from the skin rejuvenating properties of a course of Profhilo®. However, we will always ask that you attend a no-obligation consultation, prior to any treatment being carried out, here at The Harley Street Face Clinic, London.

This meeting enables your practitioner to assess your individual facial concerns, check your medical history and answer any questions you might have about the Profhilo® treatment. Once this initial meeting has taken place and you are both happy to proceed, you can book your first treatment session.

What happens during a Profhilo® treatment?

After you have completed some standard consent forms, you will be asked to relax in one of our treatment rooms. Your skin will be cleansed and numbing cream applied. This takes around 30 minutes to take effect and will ensure your comfort throughout the treatment.

Once you are numb, your practitioner will inject the Profhilo® solution into several key areas of your face and/or neck. Once this is complete, you will be able to return to your daily activities with no clinical downtime.

Do Profhilo® injections hurt?

There can be some sensation with Profhilo® as we are using needles to apply the product to the skin. However, as a topical anaesthetic is applied before your Profhilo® injections, this will minimise any discomfort and will ensure that the treatment is not painful.

What results can I expect from Profhilo® treatment?

As Profhilo® is usually administered in a course of 2 sessions, 1 month apart for optimum results, you should start to see some results after 3 to 4 weeks and the full results at week 8.

Expect your skin to be more hydrated, toned and plump in both looks and feel. Fine lines can be reduced and your skin can appear smoother and more evenly textured. If you experience more advanced signs of skin ageing, another treatment, 6 months after the initial course, may be recommended for absolute optimum results.

Is there any downtime after Profhilo® treatment?

There is no ‘clinical’ downtime following Profhilo® treatment (meaning that you won’t need time to rest or recover at home). However, there may be some ‘cosmetic’ downtime, where you may notice small localized small bumps where the injections have been administered.

This is very normal and the lumps will subside as the product disperses, in around 24 hours. You might also experience a little swelling and slight bruising, where the needles have been applied to the skin. These reactions are all common and nothing to be concerned about.

How long will the results from my Profhilo® treatment last?

You can experience superb results, where your skin will look and feel more radiant and youthful, for up to 6 months. However, every patient responds differently to cosmetic treatments.

Certain lifestyle choices such as smoking, sun exposure, excessive cardiovascular exercise, a poor diet and consuming excessive amounts of alcohol could mean that you may need to return to the clinic sooner, for another treatment. If you maintain a good skincare regime and look after your general health, the results are more likely to last the maximum duration.
