Non-Surgical PRP Skin Rejuvenation Treatment in Harley Street, London

Unrivalled quality with natural, long-lasting results

Platelets are a naturally occurring component of your own (autologous) blood and have a high concentration of growth factors that play an important role in tissue regeneration and wound healing.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma therapy?

Platelet Rich Plasma, more commonly known as PRP, is the process of isolating platelets from the blood and concentrating these platelets to much higher concentration levels than normal through the process of centrifugation. The result is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). PRP encourages collagen formation and improves blood supply to tissue, both of which are important factors in anti-ageing therapies. Your skin texture will improve as the Platelet Rich Plasma stimulates new skin tissue growth.

Platelet Rich Plasma has been widely used by professional athletes to enhance recovery after injury, reduce downtime by a natural means. (e.g. Tiger Woods to speed up recovery after a golfing injury). The technology utilises your body’s own natural reparative growth factors triggering enhances natural healing.

We are dedicated to providing our patients with the latest high-technology treatments to achieve natural-looking results and a fast recovery. There are continual advances in clinical treatments and at the forefront of current treatments is the development of biotechnological treatments.

These are treatments that enhance natural reparative mechanisms that already exist in your own body. The body has a natural capacity to repair itself and the use of biotechnology targets these mechanisms to enhance healing.

Our understanding of this technology is at a relatively early stage and the science behind the technology is lagging behind clinical improvements and results. We have invested in state-of-the-art PRP Gold Standard Equipment to ensure only the highest quality results for his patients.

Two technologies that we specialise in for specific indications and patients are Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell technology.

How will PRP help me?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is at the forefront of new medical and surgical treatments. Many professional sports athletes have utilised this technology to enhance their recovery following injuries by natural stimulation of the body’s self-repairing mechanisms. Tiger Woods reportedly underwent PRP injections before all four professional golf majors.

Ageing skin loses elasticity, has a decreased ability to retain moisture, contains lower levels of hyaluronic acid and most importantly, contains reduced levels of collagen. Platelet Rich Plasma is your own unique tissue and so you are using your own blood to repair and improve your skin tissue.

PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy uses your own unique tissue growth factors and healing properties to revitalise your skin by improving blood supply and stimulating collagen formation. Results improve and increase overtime after 4-6 weeks, suggesting that the results of PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy last longer than chemical treatments.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Rejuvenation Therapy reduces wrinkles and blemishes such as acne scars and may be used as part of your health and beauty regimes to improve the overall condition of the skin, improving tone and texture.

  • Skin texture and pores
  • Fine line and wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet & Glabellar frown lines
  • Lip lines and corners of mouth

What does PRP therapy involve at The Centre?

For PRP treatment, we will take a small amount of the patient’s blood, which is then processed by a State-of-the-Art system to concentrate your PRP and growth factor constituents. When re-injected into the skin it stimulates your own natural repair mechanisms.

Our team will use a numbing local anaesthesia cream to reduce discomfort from the procedure. The numbing cream is made especially for us and was designed in Beverly Hills and manufactured in Germany.

At The Centre, PRP is applied to your skin with “micro-needling”, this non-surgical technique applies your PRP to the skin and is a treatment in its own right. The use of topical anaesthetic cream makes any discomfort minimal and you can resume normal activity the following day.

Are all PRP therapies the same?

Most available PRP systems utilise a simple lab centrifuge. Although fast, they produce a lower quality of PRP that has inferior results. At The Centre, we utilise a state-of-the-art German machine that produces high-quality PRP (Concentration of >1.5million platelets/uL). The machine takes approximately 60-minutes to deliver the PRP for clinical use.

We use PRP is used in conjunction with surgical treatments to enhance recovery with natural growth factors. By using your own body’s natural healing mechanisms, healing is promoted in a natural way and there is no risk of allergies or reactions to your own body.

When will I see the results from PRP Injections at The Centre?

At The Centre, you can expect to see results within 6 weeks, although the final result may be as long as six months. There will be minor swelling and bruising after PRP treatment that for most patients resolve over a few days.

The treatment is dependent on concentrating your own healthy PRP (essentially growth factors). We have found younger patients have enhanced results, and for patients over the age of fifty, a course of three treatments may be helpful to maximise results.

For most patients, the final results of PRP treatments will be evident approximately six months later. With our techniques, a combination of High-Tech PRP and Micro-needling will last 12 – 18 months, although results may vary from patient to patient.

Will I look natural with PRP?

At The Centre, we specialise in natural-looking results. A natural augmentation of the face is achieved with PRP as it is essentially your own growth factors made from your own blood by a sophisticated high tech machine.

Our expert team have pioneered research in the area of facial beauty and this has been published in the mainstream media and multiple TV Channels. We have developed the application of the Phi Golden Ratio (used in many of the most famous Renaissance paintings of Leonardo Da Vinci) to the human face and apply the principles of this facial balance and beautification technique.

We have treated many celebrities and A-listers with these techniques to enhance natural beauty.

Will I experience any discomfort or pain?

We use a combination of treatments to minimise discomfort, these include the use of a powerful numbing local anaesthetic cream that is specially made for The Centre. We use a state-of-the-art micro-needling technique to minimise discomfort.

You may feel a ‘tingling’ sensation after the procedure and there may be redness, slight swelling and bruising. These symptoms will resolve shortly after the procedure.

We use additional numbing and vibration devices that use the Nobel Prize-winning research on ‘The Gate Control Theory of Pain” to minimise discomfort. At The Centre, we take the above measures to ensure most patients only experience minor discomfort.

Are there any risks or complications?

Platelet Rich Plasma is your own unique tissue and in other words, you are using your own blood to repair and improve your skin tissue. It is not possible to have allergies or reactions to your own PRP.

Although PRP has been used in hundreds of thousands of procedures around the world for over 30 years, predominantly in maxillary-facial, orthopaedic and cardiac surgery, only over the past 5-years has the technology advanced to enable higher quality PRP to be generated.

More recently PRP therapy has been used successfully in advanced wound care treatment (lower limb ulcers) and increasingly for skin rejuvenation as an alternative to treatments including wrinkle injections and volumising fillers. Slight swelling and redness may be present after the procedure but this is normal and temporary.

Studies on the safety of PRP have reported treatments as relatively safe with few side effects when completed by trained specialists. Recorded adverse events are usually minor including temporary injection site redness and bruising for up to five days.

Patients may occasionally report temporary symptoms of redness, swelling, discomfort, bumpy changes, bruising, itching or a change in colour. Infection is very rare however it is important that the treatment is completed in a CQC registered site (Care Quality Commission) and sterile precautions when having treatment. At The Centre, all treatments are completed in our specialist Facial Centre on Harley Street.
